Believe in the art of the possible.

A newsletter for excelling in American civic and political life --especially during this time of great disruption. Having a voice on the public stage is one thing. Making it an effective voice—with influence and power—is quite another.

Welcome. I'm Kevin Nix.

I've had a career as a senior strategist on 10 winning public policy campaigns at the national and state levels. My background is in the trenches doing political branding and policy advocacy out of Washington, D.C. Now, in Houston, I‘m a public affairs consultant and teach a course in political science--civic engagement and leadership– at the University of Houston.

Welcome

What they say

Jay Campbell, Partner, Hart Research

“Kevin manages to simultaneously tell your target audience what they want to hear and what you want them to hear. He’s tireless and committed. And his sense of humor never fails.”

Mark McKinnon, Creator of “The Circus” and former presidential advisor

Kevin is “smart…strategic, buttoned up… the kind of guy you want in the fox hole with you.”

Student review

  • “What stood out to me most was how relevant your class felt to real life. A lot of courses teach lessons that stay in the classroom, but your class taught me lessons that I know I’ll carry with me long after college.”

Student review

  • “Thank you for your energy, patience, professionalism, and support throughout my journey.”

Notes, the best clips, new idea kernels

This is where I get stuff out of my mind in a raw, half-baked form. I post something here almost daily but a subscription gets you one email every Thursday with all of my notes and kernels combined. 👇
